The concept of the seven-chakra system originated in India between 1500 and 500 BC in the oldest text called the Vedas. Evidence of chakrasis also found in the Shri Jabala Darshana Upanishad, the Cudamini Upanishad, the Yoga-Shikka Upanishad and the Shandilya Upanishad. The Wheel of Life, a book by Anodeo Judith provides knowledge of the chakra system was passed down through an oral tradition by the Indo-European people.
What is a chakra?
The word is defined as a spinning disk or wheel; a chakra on the human body is a spinning disk or wheel of energy that runs along the spine. There are seven ‘main’ chakras along the spine, though there are some perspectives stating that there are about 114 all over the body. The health of one’s chakras is directly connected to the health of the physical body, the mind, and the emotional well-being of a person. The seven chakras are vortexes of energy that represent our seven of consciousness. Through these seven chakras, we move from the lower self, or an unconscious state, to the higher self, or conscious state.
What Happens When Chakras are blocked?
When chakras are blocked, it means that the natural flow of energy within them is obstructed. This can have negative effects on different aspects of our well-being.
