Abstract
This study examined the cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and meseron therapy in treatment and management of thenatophobia amomg diabetic patients at university of Nigeria teaching hospital UNTH. The research enrolled 120 physically challenged diabetic patients in university of Nigeria teaching hospital. Randomly assigned to three different group, two experimental group and one control group. Their ages ranged from 20 to 65 years, with a mean of 15.30 (SD = 2.05). Results of a hierarchical linear regression revealed that cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) was significantly predict thenatophobia amomg diabetic patients at university of Nigeria teaching hospital UNTH, CBT was modified across eight major domains such as Cognitive restructuring or reframing, Guided discovery, Exposure therapy, Journaling and thought records, Activity scheduling and behaviour activation, Behavioural experiments, Relaxation and stress reduction and Role playing. Secondly, the result showed that meseron therapy significantly predict thenatophobia among diabetic patients at university of Nigeria teaching hospital UNTH. M.T treatment was modified into three domains such as, rejecting the negatives, accepting the positive circumstances of life and power of spoken words. The findings underscore the critical need to minimize diabetic patience exposure to the use of drugs in treatment and management of diabetes.Keywords: Cognitive behavioural therapy, meseron therapy, thenatophobia, diabetic patients.
